Where to look for cheap car insurance

One of the biggest battles in our financial lives is finding cheap car insurance. The internet is awash with sites promising you the lowest possible premium, but very few actually deliver on the promise! Tesco have recently launched their all-new "Value Car Insurance" policy, which promises to be the lowest cost policy in the UK. Let's take a closer look.

The idea behind Tesco's Value Car Insurance is to offer the lowest premium on the market in a no frills style package. Simply put, the Value cover will cover you for the basics, but nothing too outrageously complicated. The policy is only available online from http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/insurance/carins/value/index.jsp, so you won't find it in any stores.

The policy is cheaper because you have to pay a higher compulsory excess, meaning you'll be responsible for the first portion of any repair bill that you incur if you make a claim. The policy may cost less, but it offers much the same benefits as any other policy. You'll get comprehensive cover, a UK based 24-hour accident helpline, and three year guarantee for parts and repairs when you used an approved repairer.

Tesco also allow you to add on some optional extras to your policy for an extra cost. You can add on Tesco Breakdown Cover, which is provided by RAC Motoring Services. You can also add Tesco Legal Guard, which is covered by Ageas Insurance Limited.

If the idea of paying the higher excess doesn't appeal to you, then Tesco also offer a more standard level of cover, which you can check out at http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/insurance/carins/index.jsp.
