What Childcare Grants Are Available?

Just because you have children doesn’t mean that you can’t go back to school. It also doesn’t mean that you need to opt for online courses, which not everyone can do. There are various childcare grants available for those who do want to continue studying but have a family to think about.

Childcare grants are available through the government and can cover up to 85 percent of the total cost of childcare fees. You will receive up to £148.75 per week for one child, depending on your household income. This is only available for those who are living in England.

Scottish students can apply for a dependent grant, which will be in place of part of their loan. This is something that you’ll need to request when you are going through the student loan process. This grant can be used on whatever you need, whether it is for childcare costs or for other purposes.

Childcare grants are also available for those students that are living in Northern Ireland. Like the Scottish students, this is something that will need to be applied for through the student finance website. The same amount of money is award as for English students. This is the same process for the Welsh students although the application is done through the Welsh finance authorities.

Childcare grants are not the only ones available for students with young children. There are also learning allowances, which will help to cover the cost of books and school supplies. There are also grants available to help with looking after adults that need full time care, if that is something you need.
