Steer clear of dodgy car insurance policies
If you're getting set to change Car Insurance providers, then you'll no doubt soon be getting swayed by fantastic promises of low premiums and all encompassing coverage. Unfortunately, not all of these policies are what they seem.
There are a growing number of dodgy car insurance providers out there willing to promise you the earth. So how do you keep yourself protected? Well, there are a number of things to look out for when taking out a policy that will help you instantly see if you're getting a quality policy.
For starters, you need to take a look at the excess the insurance company is charging. The excess is the amount you'll be asked to pay towards every claim, generally a poor policy will have a high excess, leaving you out of pocket no matter what.
The next thing to watch out for is the level of cover. There's no point shelling out a massive amount for comprehensive car cover, when all you really need is a third party, fire and theft policy. Often, extras like European driving cover are included in comprehensive policies, don't spend this money if you don't have to!
Lastly, try and insist on an agreed value for the car. An insurance company may try and pay out less than what you think your car is insured for, but if you have an agreed value, that is set in advance, this won't be an issue.
Hopefully these tips will help you avoid taking a dodgy car insurance policy.
