Brits fond of a bargain or two will be pleased to get their mits on Facebook’s new mobile application.
The social networking site has announced with much pomp and ceremony the launch of Facebook Deals.
It’s a bit like Places, started last year, allowing users to 'check-in' to locations so their friends know where they are all the time.
But this new effort will give Facebook users access to promotions and special offers from nearby shops, cafes and restaurants through location-based advertising.
It’s a feature that’s been available to US users since November. The application can be used on smartphones such as the iPhone, Blackberry and Android.
Deal services are becoming all the rage. Google recently slapped £3.8bn on the table to take over deal website GroupOn. It then decided to launch its own service, similar to the Facebook one.
