A guide to Fortis travel insurance

The Fortis Travel Insurance company recently underwent a rebranding, changing their name to Ageas Insurance - although no significant changes to their policies or services have been caused by the change. This does mean, however, that you need to visit ageas.co.uk for information about Fortis travel insurance policies, instead of any previous locations.

Fortis doesn't sell travel insurance policies over the internet, unlike many of its competitors, and this means it's necessary to visit a broker in real life. The company's head office is located in Eastleigh, and there are branches in Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Glasgow, Gloucester, London, Reigate and Stoke-on-Trent.

If you don't live near one of these locations, you can call the Fortis/Ageas helpline at 0845 122 3288 for advice, but it's probably best to look for a different company - either locally or on the internet.

That said, the Fortis travel insurance program is one of the best in the business, among the most experienced, with ovr 35 years of practice, and among the most popular, having served some 50 million customers during this time. Indeed, the website claims that they have a new insurance customer every 7 seconds.

The Single Trip, Long Stay and Multi Trip policies are available to individuals under the age of 79 years old, although there are length restrictions on travellers between the ages of 65 and 79.

The coverage on all of these policies is slightly better when compared with the competition in the travel insurance business: Fortis, for example, offer up to £1,500 worth of protection for personal possessions, and £400 for cash or personal documents - a big step up from deals with comparable companies.
