Government Funded Grants That Will Help You To Keep Warm In The Winter

There are several grants available to help home owners keep their houses warm this winter. One of the most popular government funded grants helps cover the costs of insulation and heating. The primary aim of this scheme is to make insulation and heating both more effective and more affordable by providing home owners on a low income with the means of making sure they are doing everything they can to keep their house warm during cold winters.

Warm Front grants can be used to cover the cost of a variety of tasks including loft insulation, wall cavity insulation, the replacement of boilers and the fixing or installation of new central heating systems. These grants can provide people with up to £3500 to improve insulation and heating of home owners plus those who rent from landlords.

In order to qualify for one of these grants, applicants must meet certain criteria. There are several groups of people who qualify. Home owners that are 60 or over who receive income support, housing benefits, pension credit, income based Job Seekers Allowance or council tax benefits are entitled as are those who are in receipt of one of the above mentioned benefits with a child 16 or under living in the house. If a householder is currently receiving a disability living allowance or other benefits relating to disabilities, they are also eligible.

For those who do not receive benefits, you could still be entitled to £300 off installation costs. You must either rent or own the property, be over 60 or have no working central heating system.
