Find grant money for your sports club

If your local sports club is struggling because of a lack of facilities, equipment or kit, there may be a solution. Check online to see if you are eligible for grant money to help out your club.

Cash 4 Clubs (www.cash-4-clubs.com) administers a system of grants designed to help grassroots sports across the UK. Grants, financed by Betfair and Sports Aid range from £250 to £1000, to help with facilities, equipment and coaching.

Sport England (www.sportengland.org) administers funds from the National Lottery to support sports activity with help for sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, schools, colleges and universities.

Their Small Grants project offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 to not-for-profit organisations to deliver new community projects that will either nurture or sustain participation in sport or to support the development of sporting talent.

If you have already arranged some support or sponsorship from the private sector, you may be eligible for a Sportsmatch grant, which awards between £1,000 and £100,000 to match funding from no more than 5 sponsors, either from businesses, private individuals or charitable organisations. The Sport England funding for the project must be spent by 31 March 2012.

If you specifically need cash to improve your facilities, it might be worth looking at the criteria for the Protecting Playing Field grants. Sport England intend to fund up to 300 projects to retain and increase participation in sport at the local level. There may be the chance of grant money to improve or upgrade your rugby or cricket pitch, athletics track or tennis courts.
