Hays Travel are the UK's largest independent travel agent. Thousands of Britons book their holidays through them every year, and Hays' 30 years of experience ensures that most people come home with happy memories. But if you're booking with Hays Travel, insurance is essential.
Travel insurance is an absolute must for anyone travelling overseas. No matter how careful you are or how many precautions you take, no one can prepare for unexpected circumstances.
Hays are fully protected by ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) and ATOL (Air Travel Organisers' Licensing). This means that should your airline by unable to provide your flights, you will receive a full refund or alternative flights. If you are abroad, Hays will arrange for your transportation back home.
However, although this cover provides peace of mind, it does not replace the need for a comprehensive personal travel insurance policy.
In fact, it is a booking condition of all Hays' tour operators and suppliers that you have adequate travel insurance coverage. If you decline insurance, you may be asked to sign a waiver or provide proof of alternative cover (for example, the travel insurance offered through some credit cards or premium banking accounts).
Hays are a trusted and well-loved travel agent, but their customers must remember that they only act as agents for the providers and suppliers (like airlines and hotels). Thus they are not liable for any action or default of the supplier. Customers travelling with Hays or any other travel agent are therefore well advised to seek adequate travel insurance.
