RIP postcards

The art of postcard giving and receiving is sadly dying, as digital communications take over. According to AA Travel Insurance, we’re far more likely to send an email or text these days.

A survey showed that 48% send texts while others will email pictures of where they are (17%) or simpy update their Facebook page (15%).

Mark Huggins, director of AA Travel Insurance, wishes it weren’t so, and laments the sad demise of the postcard. ‘This really is the most personal way to send a message home - from choosing the image to composing a compelling summary of your thoughts in your own handwriting,’ he said. ‘And, of course, pens don't need a left-at-home charger to work, while losing a ballpoint in the sand won't result in an insurance claim! Most people enjoy receiving a postcard through their letterbox, too.’
