Utah man feels the pinch for paying fine with pennies

Loose change lingers around the house like a bad smell. It’s always a good ideas to get rid of it, but not in the way one man from Utah, USA, did.

Jason West faces a hefty fine after being charged with disorderly conduct for paying his medical bill with 2,500 pennies.

West was disputing an outstanding $25 medical bill at Basin Clinc at Vernal on 27 May. Apparently, he asked staff whether they accepted cash, and when they said they did he dumped the pennies unceremoniously on the counter, demanding that they count them.

Police later charged the man for disorderly, saying that his actions served ‘no legitimate purpose.’ If found guilty, he could be fined $140, which he’d best off this time not trying to pay in pennies.
