Who is the richest person in UK for 2014?

Although there’s not a lot of money around for most of us, there are some people in the UK who are doing OK during this financially difficult time. According to the Sunday Times Rich List, the country’s top guys horde a total of £520 billion among them. You’ll need at least £85 million to make the Sunday Times’ list that includes the country’s 1,000 richest individuals, but who is the richest person in UK for 2014?


As you’d expect, there are lots of celebrities within the list including Simon Cowell, who is now worth £300 million, and David Bowie who’s pushed himself up the list with an expanded net worth that now totals £135million.

Computer games

Grand Theft Auto creators Sam and Dan Houser are joint 947 on the list with a combined wealth of £90 million. Whether you love or hate Candy Crush Saga, you’ve heard of it so it’s no wonder that it’s four creators have jumped onto the top 1000 list a combined net worth that runs into hundreds of millions each.

Fuel industry

With the price of fuel continuing to increase in the UK, you won’t be surprised to read that the highest new entry into the list came from the owners of the London-based Perenco oil and gas operation. Carrie and Francois Perrodo are now the 14th richest people in the UK. The 15th place on the list is taken by German Khan, who runs the oil and gas fund L1 Energy.

The Queen

The Queen has been on every Sunday Times Rich List since topping the very first one in 1989. She’s now worth £330 million which is only good enough for a ranking of 285th in the UK.

Number 1

The top of the list is occupied by two brothers. The Hinduja tycoons have a joint fortune of £11.9 billion. Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja overtook Alisher Usmanov at the top of the list to make themselves the UK’s richest.
